Oscar winning Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi sends a special message about India cinema before his film ‘The Salesman’ begins screening in the South Asian country.
According to recently published media reports, in his message shared by Smriti Kiran, Creative Director of Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, to India audience at a special screening of ‘The Salesman’ in the country Farhadi lauded young cinema lovers in India.
"I've been to India several times and I've been to the Mumbai film festival. What I find really striking in India is the passion of the young cinema lovers. They pursue cinema in a very serious way. They are very passionate,” the message read, adding that the director is “hopeful about the future of Indian cinema.”
Kiran learnt about the message when she attended a cinematic event organized by the Doha Film Institute in March where Farhadi was one of the masters. The special pre-screening session of ‘The Salesman’ was attended by renownded Indian actors and filmmakers.
Farhadi's Academy Award winning movie is due to be out in India on March 31.
'The Salesman' won Oscar for best foreign film in February.
